Mrs. Virgil Lee Wilcox age 90, recently of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Wednesday December 26, 2012 at Peidmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
At an early age she joined the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Lumber City, GA where she made Jesus her choice. After moving to Jacksonville, FL she joined St. Nicholas Bethal Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL where she served as an active member for many years. Later on in life she united under Christian experience with Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL under the pastoralship of Rev. Albert Moreland where she attended regularly until her health begin to decline.
Virgil Lee's legacy lies in the lives of the people she touched. She grew up with a sense of caring that dominated and steered her life. She never met a stranger and adopted nearly everyone she met, enticing them with her good food. Her love knew no limits and she gave of that love in a manner that can never be replaced.
Ms. Virgil Lee retired from the Duval County Public School System in April of 1987.
She leaves to cherish her memoried a devoted and loving companion, Riley Williams of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Doretha Spencer (CL) and Beatrice King of Lumber City, GA; one brother -in-law, Calvin Wilcox(Doris) of Miami, FL, godchildren Stephanie Davis (Dexter), Shimmel Brown ((Natasha) Nakia Barnes and Iyanis Williams all of Jacksonville, FL. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers and church family.
Visitation will be Sunday December 30, 2012 at King Brothers Funeral Home Chapel from 11 am until 5 pm.
Funeral service will be Monday December 31, 2012 at 1 pm at St. Paul Misssionary Baptist Church in Lumber City, GA. Burial will follow in the Dillard Cemetery, also in Lumber City, GA.
