Willie James Boyd Sr.

Willie James "Moe" Boyd, Sr., age 74, departed this life on January 27, 2025

at Liberty Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 1, 1950 in Ludowici, GA to the late William and Lucy

Boyd.

He graduated from Walker High School in1968. Upon graduating he joined

the United States Military (Army) achieving the rank of Sergeant. He

served in the Vietnam War. After the military he went on to work for the

Department of Defense. Willie also worked at the Ft. Stewart commissary as

a meat cutter for 30+ years before retiring in March of 2016.

He was a very devoted husband and father and was a man of little words but

yet they were meaningful. He loved to laugh and joke around. Willie loved

watching his favorite sports NASCAR and basketball.

Willie was preceded him in death by his parents, brothers: Robert, Edward,

and Larry and sisters: Mavis Vascile and Wanda Faye.

He leaves behind to mourn, his loving and devoted wife of 51 years: Wynda

Boyd of Long County, GA; children: Willie James Boyd, Jr. (Tiffany) of

Claxton, GA, Krista and Dana Boyd of Glennville, GA; two grandchildren:

Tahje and Taniyah Boyd; two great grandchildren: Aubree Carr and Kaiyr

Boyd; brother: Philip Boyd (Donna) of Ludowici, GA; sisters: Phoebe

Smiley of Ludowici, GA, Angela Boyd (Robert) of Sanford, NC; sisters-inlaw: Lynda Johnson of Glennville, GA, Brenda Jinks (Roger) of Glennville,

GA, Barbara Boyd of Hinesville, GA; two special friends: Derrick Brooks,

Sr. (his barber of several years) and Sylvester Melvin (his fixer around the

house) and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
