Willie Jo Davis entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Coffee County Regional Hospital in Douglas, Ga. She was born on November 18, 1954, to the late Joe Davis and Willie Mae Strong Davis in Telfair County, Georgia. She was raised by her aunt, the late Mary "Sugar Pie" Stenson.

She graduated from Telfair County High School in 1972. She was employed as a seamstress at ERO Industries in Hazlehurst, GA for many years. Afterward, she was employed in the Medical Records Department at the Jeff Davis Hospital until her health declined.

She attended and worked faithfully in various churches in the community. Her spiritual walk with the Lord began at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She continued her journey at the Full Gospel Church of God in Lumber City, Ga, as well as Victory Center Church of God in Hazlehurst, Ga. She was a member of the St. Paul WMBS Mission Society.

She loved to sing. For many years, she sang with The Gospel Chariots" and The St. John Community Choir. She had many favorite songs, but two of her favorites were "Did You Stop to Pray This Morning" and "I'll Make it Somehow".

She gained fame and popularity through her card ministry, "Good Cheer Card Ministry". Through this ministry, thousands of people's lives were touched. She ALWAYS REMEMBERED to send cards on birthdays, weddings, deaths, and every known holiday. Cards were sent to churches on special occasions and holidays; cards were also sent to prison inmates and Veterans. She was able to send out over 1,000 cards for Christmas with people donating cards, stamps, and money.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her aunts, Mary Stenson and Blanche Davis Clements; her uncles, L. C. Stenson and James Davis, and raised as her brother, James McKnight Stenson; her adopted parents, James and Bertha Mae Thompson; her siblings: Larry Thompson and Doxann Thompson Hall.

Willie Jo will be sadly missed by her children: Latrina Wilcox of Hazlehurst, GA; Tabithia Wilcox of McRae, GA and Shamar Wilcox of Hazlehurst, GA. Her grandchildren: Shona McCray, Savon (Desiree) McCray, Sierra Townsend, Cherish Collins Hollis, and Seneca Whitehead. Two great grand twins, Devon and Delani McCray; sisters and brothers: Linda McNeil, Queen Williams, Helen McKever, Jacquelyn Thompson, Susie Clements, James, Elijah, and Willie Lee Thompson; special heart sister, Mrs. Marilyn Bryant; Sister-in-law, Bettye Thompson; a son in love, Steven Hollis; Numerous godchildren, whom she dearly loved and adore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the extended Wilcox Family.
